International Partnerships Austria has unleashed a game-changing, fully funded initiative that will catapult 200 ambitious Kenyan and Ugandan tech professionals into the heart of Africa’s startup ecosystem. Tech Wings Africa, delivered by Tunga Academy, StartHub, and VC4A, is now accepting applications for a zero-cost, six-month sprint that ends with registered companies, real salaries, and lifelong networks.
Applications are now open at https://academy.tunga.io/techwings/
Running across five pilot cohorts, the program opens with a one-week Launch Bootcamp blending StartHub’s proven startup curriculum with Tunga Academy’s targeted soft-skills training. Each cohort includes 40 participants, creating a total of 200 places.
Following the bootcamp, participants enter two structured tracks. The Build Now Track, led by StartHub with support from Tunga Academy and VC4A, selects ten participants per cohort – 50 in total – for five months of intensive venture-building guidance. By the end of the program, at least ten registered, revenue-generating early-stage startups will emerge.
The Future Founders Track, led by Tunga Academy with VC4A mentorship, takes 30 participants per cohort – 150 in total – through a one-month focused ideation and validation phase, followed by five months of personalised career and entrepreneurial coaching. Graduates will complete validated business models, customer interviews and executable go-to-market plans.
All bootcamp completers gain access to VC4A’s Mentorship Marketplace, with a credit system providing more than 750 hours of one-on-one guidance from experienced founders and investors. Additionally, 100 paid internships – 20 per cohort – will place participants in African tech startups for three to six months, combining technical roles with leadership exposure. Compensation is agreed directly between startups and interns, creating at least 40 new paid positions.
“Tech Wings Africa represents a real opportunity to transform talented developers into founders and job creators,” said Steve Suchi, CEO of Tunga Academy. “With funding from Austria, we’re removing every barrier so participants can focus on building skills, testing ideas and launching ventures that matter.”
Eligibility is open to tech professionals based in Kenya or Uganda who demonstrate entrepreneurial interest and can commit to the full six months. No prior startup experience is needed.
The first cohort begins on 26th January, 2026. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

African startups are invited to host paid interns, and experienced professionals can register as mentors through the same portal.
As part of International Partnerships Austria, Tech Wings Africa is funded by the Austrian Development Agency, Austria’s federal agency for development cooperation and humanitarian aid. The funds are matched with support from Tunga Academy (enrolment, bootcamps, internships), StartHub (venture curriculum and coaching), VC4A (mentorship marketplace and investor network).
