International Partnerships Austria has announced a fully funded, six-month initiative that will place 200 ambitious Kenyan and Ugandan tech professionals at the heart of Africa's startup ecosystem. Tech Wings Africa, delivered by Tunga Academy, StartHub and VC4A, is now accepting applications for a zero-cost sprint that ends with registered companies, real salaries and lifelong networks.

A fully funded six-month sprint

The programme opens with a one-week Launch Bootcamp, blending StartHub's proven startup curriculum with Tunga Academy's targeted soft-skills training. Running across five pilot cohorts of 40 participants each, the programme creates a total of 200 places. Every place is fully sponsored. There is no cost to participants.

Two tracks: Build Now and Future Founders

After the bootcamp, participants enter one of two structured tracks. The Build Now Track, led by StartHub with support from Tunga Academy and VC4A, selects ten participants per cohort. Across five cohorts that is 50 places, reserved for professionals with validated, revenue-generating startup ideas who are ready to launch now.

The Future Founders Track, led by Tunga Academy with VC4A mentorship, takes 30 participants per cohort. That is 150 places across the programme - a one-month intensive ideation and validation phase, then five months of personalised coaching. Graduates leave with validated business models and executable go-to-market plans.

Mentorship, internships and real jobs

All bootcamp graduates gain access to the VC4A Mentorship Marketplace, a credit system providing more than 750 hours of one-on-one guidance from experienced founders and investors. Beyond mentorship, 100 paid internships will place participants inside African tech startups for three to six months, and the programme targets at least 40 new paid positions created.

Tech Wings Africa represents a real opportunity to transform talented developers into founders and job creators. With funding from Austria, we are removing every barrier so participants can focus on building skills, testing ideas and launching ventures that matter.

Who can apply

The programme is open to tech professionals based in Kenya or Uganda who can demonstrate entrepreneurial interest and commit to the full six months. No prior startup experience is needed. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so submitting early gives you the best chance of a place.

African startups looking to host a paid intern, and experienced professionals who want to mentor through the VC4A network, can also register through the TechWings programme page.

Tech Wings Africa is funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA). Programme contributions are matched by Tunga Academy, StartHub and VC4A.
